The 7th Edition of the Lagos Fashion Fair began in Eko Hotels earlier today amidst a lot of pomp and pagentry.
The Managing Director Atlantic Exhibition, organizers of the Lagos fashion fair, Mr Ayodeji Olugbade, in his opening remarks welcomed everyone to the 3-day event.
Speaking about the major focus of the fair, Olugbade enthused, ”The objective of Lagos Fashion Fair has remained to create an enabling platform where creative Nigerian designers and fashion entrepreneurs connect with international designers to showcase the beauty and creativity of both worlds through their designs and innovations”.
”This year’s fashion fair also looks to celebrate Nigerian entrepreneurs who have mastered the art of fashion by using it to make bold statements and create more versatility in their designs and brands,” he said.
He further encouraged fashion entrepreneurs and exhibitors present, to ensure that they establish good relationships with the international exhibitors, ”this is why we focus more on the business of fashion and not just the show. We should not only rely on the government but rather show them we have something to offer with our skills”.
Iyalode Alaba Lawson, Chairperson of the Occasion and immediate past President NACCIMA, encouraged participants to network and connect during the event. According to her, ”Networking is the bedrock of any growing economy. Knowledge is power, whatever we are doing we must learn more. This is one of the ways to improve our economies both the hosting country Nigeria and visiting/exhibiting countries”.
Funmi Ajila Ladipo, President FADAN and a creative designer with over 36 years experience, after welcoming everyone to the show, further advised everyone to patronize Nigerian made goods in order to grow the nation’s economy. She also applauded the MD Atlantic Exhibition, Mr Olugbade for the great work he is doing in the fashion business industry.
The Cote D’voire Ambassador to Nigeria, Kone épouse Maman Toure while giving her goodwill message expressed her delight to be part of this year’s event.
The highlights of the opening ceremony was when the audience were treated to a good dose of entertainment by the talented comedian Akpors. This was followed by a fashion runway show and subsequently the cutting of the tape to declare the event open by the Cote D’voire Ambassador to Nigeria, Kone épouse Maman Toure.
Director Art of Living, Akshay Jain, CEO Saffron Fashion House Mr Chris, Chairperson of the Ivorian Fashion Association Nadia Druide, CEO MS Global Logistics Mrs Amaka and representatives of the Indian Women Association are some of the dignitaries that graced the opening of this year’s Lagos Fashion Fair event
The event continues tomorrow 26th with Runway Shows, Masterclasses, Exhibitions and so much more. The grand finale will take place on the 27th of September 2019.
